the Poor

Everything in Pope Leo XIV’s first major teaching document of his pontificate, Dilexit te, can also be found in the life of St. Francis of Assisi, who loved no one and nothing more than God and the poor.

God gave St. Katharine Drexel many gifts: enormous wealth; a loving family; a life among the rich and the powerful. And St. Katharine, whose feast we celebrate on March 3, gave it all back to God.

Consider the rich man in the parable. I always wonder if he truly was a wicked, cold-hearted Scrooge who spat on poor Lazarus.
