Sacred Heart of Jesus

Each First Friday and First Saturday, we must make a Communion of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Join us on July 3 and 4.

As the USA is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we return to an idea as old as the Gospel: That God took to Himself a human heart, a Heart that beats with love and mercy for us. And this is closely connected to the Divine Mercy devotion that, in the mysterious providence of God, has spread fastest and farthest from the United States of America.

Without a doubt, our Savior commissioned St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (feast day: Oct. 16) to spread devotion to His Heart, all aflame with love, as the healing remedy for a world full of cold hearts and broken hearts.

On June 27, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to the Sacred Heart emphasizes the vastness of God’s concern and love for struggling humanity. It serves as a reminder to the sinful and hurting people to trust in His Heart, which so tenderly loves each of us.

As we prepare to celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 27 and the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 28, let us strive to know and unite more deeply with their Hearts, and make reparation for the fact that their love for us is so often not returned.

In Dilexit Nos, perhaps the best single document of his entire pontificate, Pope Francis teaches that we still need to turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; that the devotion has not lost its relevance or transformative power today; that the heritage of our Catholic faith, including the devotions, is a treasure, not a burden.

Sainr Margaret Mary Alacoque is known for her revelations from Jesus which led to the devotion to the Sacred Heart. Father Donald Calloway, MIC, shares the parallels of this 17th-century nun with St. Faustina, and the amazing connection of the Sacred Heart devotion to Divine Mercy. Then hear the inspiring story of Patrick and Dorothy Yeung, who dreamed of a big family and how that dream became a reality.

"The Three Merciful Hearts are beating in unison as the perfect example for every family," says Br. Eliott, MIC. "Cultivating devotion to the Three Hearts will help every Catholic imitate their virtues and bring their powerful intercession to our world, so badly in need of conversion."

Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC, explains the origins of the devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary - two of the most important of all devotions in the Church.

On the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (June 16), we ask, "What is the difference between the devotion of the Sacred Heart and the Divine Mercy message?"
