Mary, our Mother, Will Always Help Us!
Today, May 24, the Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady, Mary Help of Christians.
Saint John Bosco once had a dream in which he saw the Church as a great ship in a storm, beset by an enemy fleet and a great storm, finding safety only when she anchored between two great pillars, one bearing the Eucharist, the other with Our Lady and the title "Help of Christians."
Mary is the Mother of All Christians, so of course she would be Our Lady, Help of Christians. Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in fact — everlastingly interceding for us, a most gracious advocate for all of the poor, banished children of Eve.
As St. Raphale Maria said, "Take shelter under Our Lady's mantle, and do not fear. She will give you all you need. She is very rich, and besides is very generous with her children. She loves giving."
Let us turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Help of Christians, in all our needs. She loves us with the very fire of the Holy Spirit, and will not hesitate to come to our aid.
